I created this piece out of some beautiful wood from an old pallet to celebrate our great country – the U.S.A. I love wood with so-called defects as it creates uniqueness that cannot be duplicated. Colors are stained, not painted, and it’s finished in a clear-gloss polyurethane. The back is unfinished. Set it on a shelf or add a hangar for the wall!
My daughter and I made one of these on the 4th of July, she did most of the work! That one is in her bedroom now and a great memory of time we spent together. I liked it so much I decided to make another. This pallet wood flag was made over about 3 days with preparation and assembly of the wood, layout and staining, and finishing and polyurethane. The pallet wood this 1777 flag was created from was used to ship a household door and was heat treated. I only use pallets I know the origin of and are used to ship non-dangerous goods.
